A: Green makeup is clean makeup.  Although green makeup often includes organic ingredients, botanicals, and essential oils,
what makes it "green" is about what is NOT in the makeup.  Green/healthy/eco makeup is formulated without toxic preservatives,
fillers, and irritants.  Which means, no parabens, pthalates, or petrochemicals.
Q: What is "Green" Makeup?
Q: Why should I care whether my makeup is "green"?
A: In addition to being good for the planet, green makeup is good for you.  Your skin is your body's
largest organ, through which toxins are absorbed on a daily basis.
Just as everything we dump into
the ocean affects its health, everything you slather, smear or spread onto your skin affects
your health.
Mainstream makeup is filled with ingredients you wouldn't dump into your own backyard-- so why
would you put it into your body?
Q: But what if I like a dramatic look? I've heard natural makeup doesn't
last, and only comes in really sheer colors.
A: That idea is so 1994!  Today's eco makeup has come a long way, Baby.  You'll
find pure, dense, wild pigments from
many green lines which last until you wash
them off.  Haven't you heard?  Green is the new black.
Q: I have "skin issues".  How do I know green makeup won't
    make me breakout?
A: Learn which ingredients affect your skin negatively, and simply avoid them.
Green makeup is about avoiding ingredients that negatively impact the health
of your
whole body, not just what makes you breakout.  Green makeup is "Big
Picture" makeup.

Q: What does TOXIC mean?  How do I know which INGREDIENTS are toxic?  Are there DEGREES of toxicity?
A:
We (Green Makeup Artists and lots of other people in the cosmetic and health industries) rely heavily on the
Cosmetics Skin Safety Database for information about ingredient toxicity.  More popularly known as "Skin Deep",
they supply as much precise research as is available about specific cosmetic ingredients and the effects they have on
particular systems of the body (ie reproductive organs, endocrine systems, respiratory organs, etc).  The research
comes from published scientific articles from esteemed medical journals, and includes RATINGS of toxicity, from 0-9, 9
being extremely freakin' toxic.  Skin Deep is our go-to guide to what to avoid when shopping for makeup, or lotion, or
bath salts, or....just about anything that goes ON the skin.
Because what goes on, goes in.  Wanna run a test?
Grab a bottle of your favorite lotion RIGHT NOW.  Make sure you can read the ingredient label.  Are there a few
ingredients you're not entirely sure of?  Hard to pronounce?  Sound ugly?

Click this link, and find out if you've been DUPED into accepting toxic fillers.

Finally, don't feel bad if your lotion is toxic.  You can always choose better next time.
Knowledge is power.  Get as much as you can.
